Hello I'm Mog!
I am a rescue cat. I am a very young 14 year old and came from the Feline Rescue centre in East Harling in Norfolk, UK.
I have been with my new humans for a week now and I am settling down very well.
I don't like to talk about my past life, I'd rather look forward to the new one.
It's very nice at my new place and I want for nothing. My humans spoil me all the time and I love it. I have to be an indoor cat as they live near a very busy road which was why I was chosen to be able to stay with them. Being 14 and being used to living indoors, the rescue centre realised I would be happy as an indoor cat. I have to admit I do sleep a lot and in this cold weather the thought of going outside is rather frightening. My humans did try to take me out for a little stroll but it was FREEZING and I couldn't wait to get back in. They tell me they will let me go out again when it's warmer and they can sit with me.
I caused rather a bother on my second night here. Unfortunately my humans went out and put the burglar alarm on out of habit. Of course I got up and had a wander about and suddenly this very loud bell started to ring and it was rather noisy. Eventually a very nice lady let herself in and turned the nasty bell off. It was nice to see her and I had a lovely few minutes being tickled and made a fuss of. She said she was jealous of my humans and would like a cat herself but she also lives on a busy road. Perhaps I can get get her interested in one of my older mates back at the recue centre?
I spend some of the day in my boudoir upstairs. My humans have made me a very comfortable bed up there where I can watch the boats go by and all sorts of other things going on. It's never boring when you live by a river.
Today I was introduced to "Cat Nip" WELL! What a treat...made me feel like a kitten again. My human said she wished it did the same for her but she couldn't even smell it (they don't have a very good sense of smell you know; humans.) I was rushing about like a "cracker cat" for quite some time. Even got the hang of the wooden pole thing with rope on it. Seems it's to sharpen your claws on and they got all excited when I actually used it. It's got a red ball on a string attached and I gave that a good few whacks I can tell you. The humans were in hysterics. I like it when they are pleased because they give me some nice little "treats" which are really tasty.
Nearly time for bed. I go to bed at the same time as the humans. She carries me upstairs and puts a couple of treats in my bed and strokes me to settle me down. Often I get up a wander off somewhere else but she doesn't seem to mind too much. We cats are like that and she says that's what she loves about us so that means we are all happy doesn't it?
One whole week gone and it seems I have lived here for ever. I've got the humans running round me just as I want them. The food's good and the accommodation is very comfortable. I'm sure I'm going to be very happy here.
Night night for now....MOG xx

Hello Mog,
ReplyDeleteMy human has just read your letter to me. I too am a rescue cat, I was thinkng maybe we could become friends, I think the humans call it pen pals, seems a bit silly to me when nobody uses a pen!!
My name is Squeaks, apparently my Meow isn't up to much, when I try to Meow a little Squeak comes out! No matter how I practise nothing seems to change. Not that it makes a lot of difference, the humans still here me and know what I want.
I had a bit of a problem initially with my English, I have meowed in Greek all my life so English meowing didn't come easily. I had to try hard though to make sure that I got fed. I wasn't in a rescue home, I had to find my own food for the first three years of my life which was very difficult, thankfully these humans gave in in the end especially the blonde man who kept telling his wife not to let me in, nor feed me and definitely no sitting on the sofa, I just persevered and it wasn't long before I was sitting on his lap, lapping up the milk and the he was looking for me in the morning. All this time his wife was quietly waiting for this to happen!!
The best day was when my human man asked me if I would like to move to their new house in Secret Valley, quite a posh place for cats, there are hardly any other cats so I don't get bothered anymore by scary cats who want to come into my garden.
The people two doors away have two very pleasant cats who I have tried to befriend, unfortunately they are indoor cats like you Mogs, I go to see them and look at them through the window, I did try to get into the bedroom from the upstairs balcony to get to meet them. Unfortunately I got stuck up there all night and I was very frightened. I was so please the following morning when my human lady came looking for me. I Squeaked my very loudest until she heard me. Then a kind man human came and took me downstairs, he was very kind and gentle.
When I first moved in with my humans, they were going on holidy and I heard them talking about sending me away to a home. I was very frightenend that they might be unkind to me. Apart from having to go to the vets to be checked over AND having five teeth out!! (I don't remember very much about that. I do remember getting back home and my legs kept going in different directions. When the humans went on holiday they took me to a beautiful place on the side of a big hill, the human there was very kind and gave me lots of food and love. I had a huge cage go myself with a lovely breeze blowing through it. There was a chair with a frilly cushion, a table which I could sit on if I wanted to and toys to play with. In those early days though I didn't know what I was supposed to do with toys. I'd never played when I was a baby. I really love to play now though, my only problem is that I'm not very good at stopping and do sometimes bang myself on the kitchen doors!! Who cares ? I don't because it really is such wonderful fun. I'm quite interested in this ere Catnip, I'm hoping my humans might find some for me, maybe your human could let my human have some seeds if they find any please.
Well Mogs, I'm beginning to feel a bit dopey now, I was out in the fields last night and it's just catching up with me.
I look forward to hearing from you
